Of course not! Being sad might help a person write a nice blues lyrics though!

I definitely agree with you zanweah. You do not need to be sad to play the blues. Good blues music is very emotional and powerful. It really is the basis of most music that you hear. I have discovered that when I am feeling a strong emotion "Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad" I connect so much more with the blues and playing the blues on guitar. It is a beautiful release

I hear you. That makes sense! Music in general is a great release. There is something for every emotion.
